We had the awesome chance to visit the Shaiman Christ Church today on the Island. They have a Chinese service followed by a Chinese/English service. It was so neat to be able to experience worship with so many believers in China. The building was packed. Jeff estimated there to be close to 500 people there in just that room alone. The children were in another part of the building. I couldn’t believe how the people kept pouring in long after the service had started. We sat in hard straight-backed chairs and old hard benches and there was no air conditioning, but no one seemed to notice but us. We have so much to be thankful for that we take for granted at home. They had a time of praise and worship and then a speaker delivered a sermon that was translated into English by another man. I am not sure how these people are able to attend this church but will ask Helen when we see her tomorrow.
Matthew 18:20 – For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
After lunch, we spent some quiet nap time in the room because the guys have plans to be up at 1:00am to watch the NFL games. Lin Feng also does much better if he has his two-hour nap. The stomach issues seem to be a little better, but I think Lin Feng has now caught the same cough/cold that I have. If he isn’t better by the end of the day, we will probably start him on some medicine too. I guess when you are staying all together like we are, you share everything!!
We took our “custom” red couch photos today (pictures to follow). Although the White Swan is not open for us to stay in, you can still go in the lobby and shop or use the couches for photos. As you will be able to see in the pictures, our guy was more interested in playing with his cars than having his picture made.
Only two more nights here in Guangzhou and then we are headed to Beijing!!!
